3iG COMMITTEE MEMBER SPREADS THE WORD WITH HANK GREENBURG AND OTHERS IN NEW YORK
Congratulations to George Corde, CPCU who was the winner of the Society's Spread the Word award for April. George is president of the New York Chapter as well as a 3iG committee member.
OH, THAT ST PETERSBURG!
It looks like we will not be seeing 3iG Committee member Cinda Hartman, CPCU later this year at the annual meeting in Orlando due to other obligations in St Petersburg. We offered to provide transporation from St Petersburg to Orlando as an incentive but it turns out we were looking at the wrong map. Cinda continues to show the truly international nature of CPCU and the 3iG by continuing her educational partnership with the University of St Petersburg, Russia. Under Cinda's leadership, the Northeastern PA Chapter of CPCU is sponsoring another Russian student for studying the COMET online course; Fundamentals of Underwriting. The student has completed her course of study and will be taking the exam in the near future. This fall, she will be a presenter at the 75th Anniversary Conference for the Economic Institute, which is the branch within the University of St Petersburg which teaches economics and insurance. Talk about Spreading the Word!!

Based on the conference call it looks like the 3iG committee will be well-represented at the Leadership Summit in Phoenix and the two international seminars set for Orlando 2010 are well under way to being finalized.
The committee would also like to welcome Elaine George, CPCU to our ranks.
Elaine is an underwriter for Patriot Insurance Company in Maine, USA and has already made a difference by compiling our Circle of Excellence submission, setting up a webinar for April, and maintaining communications between the 3iG leadership and membership around the world. THANK YOU ELAINE.

International Insurance Interest Group welcomes new member
The International Insurance Interest Group welcomes Tony Hughes. Tony is currently a Trucking Product Underwriter at Great American Insurance Company in Cincinnati, OH, but not to worry - he is truly an "international" underwriter having been born and raised in Scotland and working in Europe before immigrating to the USA in 2003. Tony was "discovered" by the 3IG after he was chosen as one of three new designees to speak about his/her experience with the CPCU process at the Conferment ceremony in Denver. Watch for an article from Tony in an upcoming issue of International Perspectives about 'working in America'.
Of course, we also have to give a big thank you to Tony for taking on the responsibilities of webmaster for 3IG.
November 2009
International Insurance Seminar
International Insurance Interest Group chairman-elect Mickey Brown and committee member Mike Leinenbach presented a CE-eligible seminar on International Insurance at the Boston I-Day and Conferment event on November 12. The presentation was a modified version of the "OOPS! My Client has gone International" seminar presented by the IIIG at the Denver annual meeting. Thanks in part to presentations such as this and other IIIG activities, there is increasing awareness and interest in education involving international insurance issues and this seminar proved to be very popular.

3IG produces General Session at the 2009 Annual Meeting and a new Seminar on "going international"
The 2009 Annual Meeting & Seminars was full of new experiences for all CPCUs, but the Internatonal Insurance interest group was particularly pround to have organized both the General Session on "Insurance in a Sustainable World" and a new Seminar on what to do about international exposures ("Oops, my client has gone international"). See the specially-produced, first-ever internationally-focused introduction to a General Session.

3IG launches re-vamped website
The Internatonal Insurance interest group is pround to present you with a more expanded offering of news, information and resources, for both its CPCU members and the general public. The simplified menu structure allows the user to target more easily that for which they are looking, based on the area of interest. The logic is that the user/visitor should not have to guess where the information is located, so a new feature was introduced : common pages, which means that people will find certiain pages in multiple menus. In addition, now some pages are fully public, but others are either partially or fully "members-only". Discover the wealth of opportunity by visiting the site map.
